Reuters photographers have been documenting the ongoing student protests at universities across South Africa. Students are demonstrating against the current high costs of university, which often have a prohibitive effect on black students.
The current protests were triggered by a government recommendation that 2017 tuition fee increases be capped at 8% - above South Africa's current inflation rate of 6%.
Universities where students have been protesting include the University of Cape Town, Durban University of Technology, and the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
